Design Acoustics speakers

So I went to audition a pair of speakers few weeks back. The guy also had a pair of design acoustics, not sure what model. The front had almost a 3D Trapezoidal shape to it coming towards you. There were speakers facing different directions and in different areas with a rear facing woofer. I asked if he minded if I hear them. I thought they sounded very nice. Any idea what these might be? I have no pics :thumbsdn:

What do they go for?

Are they any good? They sounded it to me.

Sounds like the D-12.

The shape is a dodecahedron.

I sold those back in the day.

I think they might have been d-6 not d12

What did the d-12 and d-6 go for new .

Yes that looks like a D-6.

The D-12's went for ~$650 new and the D-6's for ~$350

They were D-8s after further examination

The D-8's were one of the best sounding Design Acoustics DA series speakers ever offered. They were kind of a supercharged version of the D-6 with an upgraded mid-range driver and two 10" woofers instead of one. If you can pick them up cheap, I'd recommend you grab them as not many pairs were made.

The foam around the Peerless midrange cone may need replacement but it will be worth the cost and effort.
