I've learned much here at Audiokarma - it's been instrumental in a renewed interest (obsession?) in 70's old school audio equipment.
Two thoughts on that: Thank you Audiokarma! & Curse you Audiokarma!

I now have a Sansui 9090, an SAE set-up of SAE 101 and 201 - a smaller Yamaha receiver, a Beogram TT, Ohm L's, Polk 5jr.s, some great little Optimus speakers and some monster Bertagni speakers that use styrofoam in lieu of cones and stand 5 ft. high. Eyeing a classic Yamaha receiver but have no place for it really.

Trouble-shooting question: How to use Detoxit? I've seen it mentioned much. Do you have to remove the switch from the board?

I have several switches that crackle - receiver sounds perfectly on tuner, but switching to aux, one channel crackles intermittently - and I sense (but nto sure) that it's in the switch.

Thanks much-

You should be able to spray into most controls as there is usually a small opening where the connections go inside. Don't saturate the control, just a small squirt and turn the knob end to end to clean the contacts.

You should then spray some Fader Lube inside to lubricate it.

When you go to the store, ask for "Deoxit".

"DeTOXit" is a different product, for another purpose, not related to audio gear.

Outstanding primer on using Deoxit (and trouble shooting) for the novice - thank you Stark and thanks to Arkay for posting and reposting said article.
And yes, I meant Deoxit, not DeToxit. I need the former, and I know some that need the latter....

I've been known to..I'm not a big fan of drilling holes into unobtanium parts. Know what I mean , Vern...:D

Drench it badly, and angle the face plate at a 45 degree angle. Twist the knobs back and forth as you spray them liberally down.
