Diagnosis Needed

I just got an old Beogram 1800 from a friend.

The symptom: When I press play or cue, the platter spins for a few seconds and then stops.

The diagnosis: ?

I think I saw your post on VinylEngine, but in case people here are curious, the solution was easy -- put a record on the platter. B&Os have a pin that rises up to sense if there is a record on the platter, and if not, the turntable shuts off. PEs also had this feature, which makes working on the automatic mechanism that much more challenging than Duals, Miracords or Garrards and BSRs.
