Difference between AR XA & AR XB tonearm rest

I bought an aftermarket XB style tonearm rest from fellow AK'er ScaleAutoArt. I Installed it on the TT only to discover the height is taller than the original black plastic one. So now, I can't set the dust cover on without hitting on the headshell.
Is there a difference in the height of the original tonearm rests? I like the look of the aluminum type and was hoping to upgrade my XA.
Any help with measurements of the original XB style would be much appreciated. Thanks!

the XB rest is designed for a table that has a top plate that is lower than the top of the base. The ones I have from him are extremely close to original XB in total length. The XB post is taller than the XA post. The dust covers for the XA didn't change from when the XA was a set in top plate, to a set on top plate, removing some clearance to the arm in general. Most later XA's, the dust covers have markings from the C/W due to the loss of original clearance.

The tone-arm rest can be cut, re-drilled and tapped. Not sure if you're up for that but maybe you have a neighbor that is a tool guy.

The other option is to contact the seller and ask if he can make the mod.
