Different versions of 'Smaller Advent Loudspeaker'???

Looks like there are different versions of 'Smaller Advent Loudspeaker'.
I have a pair that has white grill cloth and woofer with big dustcap.

Then I got a pair that's exactly same size but much lighter, has black grill cloth, green tweeter but woofer looks different.
Stickers on the back are same 'Smaller Advent Loudspeaker'...

Dates on the backs of the woofers? Pictures? Original woofers had a big glop of stuff on the woofer. May have been removed or replacement woofer on the second pair. Grills may not be original either. Never saw small or large advents with black grills from the factory in the day. My .02

I'll take pictures of the new ones later.
It's not only the grills, the whole cabinet is much lighter but grill velcro tabs are same.

AFAIK there was only one smaller advent loudspeaker.....

sounds like your 2nd set has been butchered with new grille cloth and replacement (and lighter weight) woofers

Yeah my guess it the replacement woofer has a much lighter magnet, hence the weight difference. The only difference that I'm aware of during the production run of the Smaller Advent was a change from green to red tweeters.

The 'spitwad' woofer is essential to the sound of that speaker, due to the mass loading that the 'spitwad' provides, allowing it to work in the small cabinet.

Not sure I believe that. Though I had a pair like the op mentioned - big dustcap, white grills, etc - I've seen some variations in the advent line over the years. I wouldn't be surprised if his other pair is original, but maybe near the end of the model's run... maybe some cost-cutting took place?

Doubtful. The Smaller Advent was designed with the spitwad dome, so any other variation would not be standard. As far as grill cloth, same thing

Okay it's half and half...

One woofer is replaced and another one is original with foam rot.
Also, the cabinet color is different but both have same weight feel.

Grills are black and even the original woofer one is much lighter than the other ones I have.
These feel like thin wood/mdf on the cabinets.
But they are smaller advents.
Now what?

Although not original, the second woofer does look like factory - maybe a Jensen era replacement.

Nah. It's a cheap radioshack cr#pola.
