Pictures don't seem to be much help on this speaker. Plus, on-line details don't give much info either. But, the Elac site, and the owner's manual states they are "5-way custom" binding posts. A 5-way post, by definition, includes the use of banana plugs. So, I'd say you're covered. But, the posts do look like they have inserts, which would have to be removed first, before plugging in the banana's.

Yeah, if they have 5-way posts they may have the banana jacks blocked due to EU (or is it IEC?) safety compliance thing.

thanks everyone for the info...4 ohms won't bother my amp ,ill use a LINN LK 140 which is 140 WPC into 4)ohms & 95 WPC into 8 ohms,i think this amp will work...if not i could use a B&K ST 202 which is 150WPC into 8 ohms..dont know what the B&K does for 4 ohms though...thanks again,I'm pulling the trigger.

the ELAC UNFI UB5s arrived & after 10 hours of break in .They hit the mark! big ,big improvement over my Dynaco A25s that need recap etc,,,they image great & push a lot of air ,very tuneful, listened for hours with a big smile on my face...im using preamp & amp that cost over $3000 new,but got the pre for $250 & matching amp for free ,So with good cables PCs &ICs..these speakers are the real deal ,I have them on 24 inch Lovan steel stands...for $350 anyone (with good watts) this is one speaker to try..im in HI-FI heaven!..also the sound from my Peachtree BT1 music server thru my iPhone was so good, that i think these speakers match up with digital sources very well...i haven't tried vinyl yet...that will be later in the week.

little update....just got the new audio advisor holiday cat.....ELac unifi B5...back to $500 but in piano black....so the satin finish are closeouts.

An new speaker would have made a huge difference over what you were using actually.

And I have to ask what "tuneful" means?

I saw one site, that was listing the UB5's retail price as $750! Then they were acting like their price of $550 was a bargain! Still, between these, and some of the new KEF's, I'd like to give one of these concentric designs a try. They look like they'd sound interesting. Tuneful. :)

tuneful....well for me it was the tone of the horns..not as flat sounding...but not bright either...just more right than old a25s...both have their charms.

that $750 price is list for the slim european model...more style & better finish.
