Does anyone know the product history for Sony ES changers?

I have a Sony CDP C701-ES which dates back to August 1994. It recently died and I am looking for a replacement.

I have no idea if various 5 changer ES models are older than mine or newer than mine.

Does anyone have a product history for Sony ES changers with a date of introduction and possible features?

I know the C701 ES, C801 ES etc were introduced circa. 1994.
Also SONY CD-C75ES 5-Disc Changer manufactured July 1990.

Thanks!

CDP-CA7ES manufactured September 1996. I know some people have had skipping problems with these, but mine plays nicely and sounds good — must have a decent DAC in there.

What is wrong with the player? Could be a belt needs to be changed at this point, a new laser may be available too if dead. Lubing the mechanism may also fix some issues.

There was also the CDP-C8ESD, 1989 I believe and C79ES (had one), maybe 1991 or 2? I never was into the changers, so my knowledge of these is limited. If you can grab a C89ES, C87ES or C85ES, those are quite nice. I had a C87ES.

Service tech said laser is dead and needs a new processor. I can find the laser a KSS-240A on ebay for $20, but I would not know how to align the head and trim the pots on it. Don't know where I would get a new processor. Otherwise the C701-ES is in mint condition. It would be a shame to pitch it.

That's too bad, maybe you can sell the player for parts, someone may have a working player that is in poor cosmetic shape and can transplant some parts. In any event, I would keep the wood sides (if you have them) and feet at least, as those can be sold quite easily. I would track down a 8 series changer if you want to stay with this series of players.
