Does digital ready=RUN?

Void where prohibited
I know the whole digital ready speaker thing was a scam from the word go, but did anybody still put out good speakers under this guise?

I saw a pair of these for sale today. Magnavox MX9601. $120 for the pair.
Not a clue if magvavox ever put out anything in a good speaker.
The internet appears to have zero trace of these.

Thoughts?

Looking through the grills, these look pretty cheaply made to me and were probably originally part of a low quality rack system. By the time digital came around, almost all Magnavox speakers would be considered low end. I'd avoid them.

This is the tag shown on the bottom of the speaker in the ad. Got me.
I suppose someone could have taken the label off a turntable and stuck it on their speaker, but why?Screen Shot 2018-12-08 at 4.52.17 PM.jpg Screen Shot 2018-12-08 at 4.54.50 PM.jpg

Yeah probably.
Just never know when ya might have come across the 'ol diamond in the rough.

I'm thinking this thread needs a delete button.
Let's forget this one.
These things don't really exist.

I also tend to avoid speakers with response curves printed on the front or the letters AV anywhere in the model number. I'm probably missing some nice speakers by doing this but most I've seen / heard with either of those features are pretty trashy :-)

Yes.
It's already got two strikes against...freq. response graph, and digital ready.
Pass unless free, then ask how much they will pay you to take them.

The thing I have with unknown 'project' speakers is that what you are getting is a nice cabinet. And, sure you can replace poor drivers and re-do crossovers, but maybe they sound bad BECAUSE of the cabinet. In that case you are left with nothing. So, maybe just run away from those.

For example I got these inexpensive Yamaha speakers to play with. At least the cabinets were good quality.

Ok. I wasn't really all serious about these speakers, just more curious.
But I see speakers out there labeled "digital ready" and my question really is, is this pretty much an indication of a POS speaker, or even though some have this label, did anyone actually put out good speakers with this label?

For speakers, in all likelihood, no. But there are probably some decent electronics made during the analog to digital transaction that say it.

Somehow the "digital" must be converted to something capable of driving a speaker's physical movement.
