Dual 1219 out of storage and playing!

Hello TT user's,

I blew off the dust clean her up a bit adjusted the drop down on the LP, and she still plays great! It has a Grado Black on it. My old Dual 1219 is in the house again..:banana:

That receiver plays and sound awesome, the Dual is running through my SX 850 receiver on the shelf next to it. Great old stuff that still sounds better than CD's.

The 1219 is second only to the 701 in my opinion. I use both daily in my systems. These tables from the desert (AZ, NM, CO) are most likely to play without a full service after all of these years - the climate has dried out all of that old nasty grease. But, the rubber grommet on the tonearm height adjuster has also dried out and if not replaced, you might find that the tonearm will hang up and not track correctly. Also, I'm sure that the base could use a new coat of tung oil. Fred's close to you - send it in for a tune up!

Thanks for the reply,I have 4 of the 1219 model, this is the best one that always worked,I am playing it now, some Miles Davis. I had planned on driving over to visit Fred's shop make a weekend out of it, and drop off another one of the 1219's in need of service, to find the time... My 2nd TT growing up was the 1219 back in the day when vinyl was king!
