I need to replace the RCA cables on my dual 606 turntable, can anyone suggest a decent cable replacement.

Seems you are set on replacing the entire cable. I can't comment on that because I'm not an expert in determining if I need to be concerned about the capacitance of the cables themselves. I typically cut off the ends on my Duals and replace just the plugs and then I don't have to worry about that. It's typically those cheap RCA plugs that oxidize and cause all the problems.

Perhaps some experts will come along and comment.

I would seriously advise against replacing the cables. Those provided by Dual don't look like much, but you'd be hard pressed to find anything that comes close in terms of low capacitance and microphony. I know this because I tried and measured a lot of cables for this very purpose: although perfectly good for line-level interconnects, they are just not designed for high impedance, low level applications like phono cartridges. Just change the connectors if they are damaged, and you're set.

Also recommend retaining the stock wires and replacing just the plugs. Although some plugs are designed to accept way larger diameter cable. Like the nice locking collar ones I used below on my 721. Problem you can have is the strain relief wont work with this small of a gauge. A simple trick I like in this instance is press fitting a small plastic drywall anchor with the end snipped off into the end of the connector. The strain relief presses against the anchor which in turn squeezes down around the wire clamping it securely. Goodbye annoying hum!

That sounds like a neat trick  Personally I use to mount Rean NYS373 connectors on turntable cables. Their strain relief is of the chuck style and can accomodate cables down to 3.5 mm of outer diameter, a tad too wide for the Duals but you can easily make up for the difference with a piece of heat shink tube or just electrical tape. I especially like the design of the NYS 373, it's sturdy, reliable, easy to mount and unmount, and it's cost-effective too.
