Dynaco A25 vs A35, why the different xover point?

Have been an Dynaco speakers fan for decades. Have had all 4 sizes, A-10, A-25 (2 pairs), A-35, and A-50 (sold them recently, foolishly). But never seriously compared them until my hearing suffered serious deterioration. It was then when I became curious as to how they compare. I needed a judge! My sister stepped in to help. She plays piano and is very sensitive to the quality of music, and by extension, the quality of music reproduction. She likes A-35 the best. It is the clear winner, no hesitation at all.

I've made the same comparison with same results, A35's every time. The A25's are certainly excellent in their own right, but the A35 just has a "fuller" sound overall imo

I've never A/Bd any of them, but spent lots of time with the A25 and A35, and heard A50 a few times. By memory, the A50 sounded biggest, but the A35 beat them all. Could be my prejudice because owned the A35 for a long time.
This will serve as another reminder to kick my own arse for selling them.

Even with my impaired hearing, while doing the A/B comparisons with my sister as the final arbitrator, I could tell that A-35 sounded more open, more glorious in the higher registers. I expected a fuller bass in view of it's bigger interior volume, but did not expect a better high. My sister's comments were "clean and life-like". "Life-like" is the ultimate goal of audio, after all.
I guess A-35 had been over-shadowed by it's smaller and lesser brother because of the latter's more user-friendly size and price tag, and ultimately, by it's own restricted availability. In my decades of collecting audio equipment, I came across only one pair of A-35. Which, btw, is in pristine, like new, condition.
BTW, I re-read my posting just now, and saw some ambiguity. I only sold the A-50 (regrettably), still have all other 4 pairs. Shall keep them all, until I kick the bucket.
As a footnote, I used Dynaco St-35, the sweetest tube amplifier in my collection, driven by an Eico HF-85 preamp. I found out only recently, that Dynaco St-35 has finally gained a well-deserved reputation. So have the Eico gears. We all come to the same realizations, one way or another, sooner or later.

A few years ago, I sold a nice pair of AR 4x in which I had done all the work: caps, dope, pots, and cabinets. I just couldn't get the highs back.

Long story short, I decided to get my hearing tested. Highs were gone. I now have a pair of wonderful hearing aids that have restored much of my loss and are "tunable." Highs are crisp and clear, as are the rest of frequencies. I only wish I had had done this before I sold the ARs.

Good to know that hearing aids are able to restore your enjoyment. I suffered "sudden hearing loss" or "over-night hearing loss" to both ears one year apart. The two sides are worse than not "balanced". In fact, the worse side is running interference against the other side! I still listen to music, but I have fill the "holes" with my imagination.

I had no idea that was a thing! I was just reading about it after I saw your post. Hope you can get some of it back.
