dynamic duo.. Hitachi HMA-9500 + HA 8700

or should i say Dynaharmonic duo

A few years back, I accidentally stumbled upon this amp while browsing a local buy and sell magazine ads. The Lo-D (Hitachi) HMA 9500 which I posted earlier.

Hitachi? Why in our place, Hitachi is very popular in producing electric fans, flat irons and rice cookers. Little did I know that it was TOTL model during its time and it would be the best amp in my collection. Even now, it still holds its own amongst my other stuff. While researching the NIJI site for additional info about the amp, I saw this Lo-D HA 8700, the TOTL integrated, poster page together with the 9500.

If this amp’s performance is somewhere near the 9500’s then maybe its worth looking for. And so begun my quest for one. And after three long years of waiting, one was offered to me a week ago at a reasonable price. To cut the story short, its now with me and I have to say the years of waiting was well worth it. now i have both and i'm very happy about it. MOS FET power rules!

it runs hot but being taken cared for by these large heatsinks. plus a Hitachi electric fan as back up if necessary

rated at 90 wpc into 8 ohm, i was expecting 4x12000u F caps (KA-9100), but no. it has 4x18,000u F same with the Supreme 600 (KA-9300) :thmbsp:

i dont have a pair of 4ohm speakers just right now, but i'm sure this baby would handle them with ease..
