Ebay seller not responding to payment, what to do?

I have bought a small class T amplifier at ebay. I paid it via paypal, the transaction shows up on my bank account, but I still haven't got the email that says "thank you for your payment" yet. It's enerving and I have no idea if I am about to be scammed or what.. Is there some buyers protection in any of this that I could use?

Regards
Marcus

How long has it been since you made the payment?

Yea, this is the first thing. I would email the seller and ask him if he received your payment. Try and get some response. I assume after a certain amount of time, you just file an Item Not Received dispute.

I'm unsure of the time span.

Some sellers especially some high volume ones, never send any kind of confirmation. They just ship it.

If they have lots of good feedback & it's a small item, I wouldn't sweat it.

I think ebay makes you wait 30 days to file a claim....

Hang in there... Could be a number of reasons....

I never send confirmation emails; I just ship the item. I wouldn't worry; if it's been 30 days, send an email and file a claim. Otherwise I'm sure it'll show up.

The "thank you for your payment" is generated automatically by paypal when you pay. It doesn't mean you'll get your item even if you did get the payment received notice.

I would check with seller, paypal, and the bank to see if your payment actually went through.

I always send a shipping confirmation - in fact PayPal does it if you ship through there.
There is a shipping status for the item what does it say?

use Contact Seller

I usually send the seller an email that I completed paypal and hopefully he will see payment soon. If I am unnerved by waiting, I might ask when he shipped if there was no tracking provided.

Some sellers will wait until the payment has cleared and deposited into their bank account before shipping.

To get readily available information you can click Contact Seller in My Ebay or the listing itself.

You should get a screen that gives you info that seller received payment and estimated delivery. You can also get this going to the listing and clicking View Order details.

Opening a dispute: Your paypal receipt will say
Issues with this transaction?
You have 45 days from the date of the transaction to open a dispute in the Resolution Center.
But I believe the recommended wait time is about 9 days to allow delivery time or definitely if the estimated delivery date is past and you get no replies from the seller. But the dispute process should outline that.

Keep checking with your paypal account

to see if the item is marked as shipped. Or if tracking #'s have been added.
Give it a week..send the seller a message via paypal or ebay and keep a copy of the messages you send and the response if any.
Good luck !

I am a bit new to ebay so I am not familiar with this situation, but you were absolutely right. The payment has been received and registered when I check the "won" menu on my ebay account. Thank you all for your concern and advice!

As a seller I email the buyer when it shipped.

But, as a buyer I don't look at any of that stuff unless it doesn't show up in a reasonable period of time.

And, no you won't lose any money. Just the hassle of going through the process if it doesn't show.

Always use Ebay's messaging system to contact the seller because then all communication is in their system and can't be disputed or refuted.

Ok, found this:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/questions/item-not-received.html

Keep in mind that timing is important. You can open a case 3 days after the estimated delivery date (if available) or 7 days after making payment (if no estimated delivery date was provided). If you received an item, but it doesn't match the seller's description, you can open a case now. You must open a case within 45 days of making payment on an item.
Of course, you must still try to work it out with the seller first.

Do you have a credit card as a backup to your bank account? It might be that your card has expired. Then it will take up to three days for your payment to post. Something to look into but you will usually get a email that your card has expired from Ebay.
