Yeah, I was going to say, "Picture or you don't have it."
And, I bet it will sound a bit better with a stylus.
Doug

I own one of these, scored a NOS original purple stylus. The 999VE/X and the 1000ZE/X are the same body electrically BTW. I have the 1000ZE/X with it's matching original NOS stylus installed on my Yamaha PX-3
Following up, took a chance and glad I did. The cartridge matches perfectly with the stylus, the sound is perfect, the bass is solid and highs are not sibilant.Just ordered a 2000 E/III not sure the year it was made as it comes with an aftermarket stylus. Also got a Philanstein "Made by Empire" stylus for the 2000 E/III which have a flip down stylus cover. I hope they are a good match, the stylus tip is not nude like the Empire manual claim them to be. I find that odd.
Sweet !!Following up, took a chance and glad I did
I don't think so, because the TE/X body is the same as the SE/X and PE/X. Now you can use the VE/X stylus on your ZE/X body with perfect results.Just arrived today, 1000ZE/X body. Resistance R 711 Ohms, L 705 Ohms. Inductance, R 643mH, L 609mH.
Now, the question is which stylus can I use? I have an aftermarket 999TE/X.
I should have asked this on the first page. The thread is for 2000 bodies, so just what does that encompass? I have a 2000Z which I posted early and it seems to have an odd inductance.
Is the manual over at vinylengine.com for the 2000 E/III, for a later iteration? The specs are different than the usual ones you see (frequency response, 20-20,000 Hz, +/-2dB, vs 5-35,000Hz; Channel Separation, 200~500Hz, 20dB, 500~15,000Hz, 28dB, 15k~20kHz, 20dB, vs. 35dB, output voltage, 4.5mV vs. 5mV).
https://www.vinylengine.com/library/empire/2000.shtml
Here are the specs from my original 2000 E/III from 1976 as printed in the accompanying user instructions:
Frequency Response- 10-28,000 Hz +/- 2 dB
Output Voltage per Channel @ 3.54 cm/sec rms groove velocity - 3.5 mV
Channel Separation
20 - 10 kHz - 35 dB
10 kHz-20 kHz = 20 dB
Tracking Force in Grams - 3/4 - 1.5
Stylus Tip - .2 X.7 mil. elliptical diamond
This is for my 2000 E/III with a lower inductance as listed in my previous post.
Specs have a tendency to vary all over the place depending on source and period in time.
