EPI 100V Rebuild Done

Upgrade with dayton Caps 1% 12 gauge wiring and new speaker terminal post and all I can say is wow wow wow. The detail is awesome I couldnt stop listening to them :tresbon:

All I did was throw a new pair of caps in mine and I seriously couldn't believe the difference. :thmbsp:

my first re-cap was an EPI 100-M, it kind of spoiled me: cheap speaker, cheap re-cap, excellent results.

Are those similar to the Genesis 10 speakers? Mine are an 8" 2-way with the square frame tweeter. Definitely great sounding speakers although I haven't played mine in 2 years maybe and may sell them off. I refoamed the woofer and changed out the cap to an 8uf Solen and that was it. Well, and recovered the grills. Surprising little speakers.

They are kissing cousins to the EPI 100's. The designers at Genesis worked at EPI at one time. The Genesis speaker is an evolution of the EPI 100. Both are excellent little speakers.

Just picked up a pair on local CL. Both woofer surrounds are shot and if I'm right the PO must have tried to drive them without surrounds - VC's feel awful during finger push test.

But I'm looking forward to getting them back in shape.

Without surrounds, it's really tricky to push down vertically.
May be they are alright.

Hu is a wealth of information and his website is awesome reference site. But his follow up sucks at least to me and others in the past.

If he were more reliable I would have given him a lot of business over the years.

Fellow AK'er saving me a lot of money. All I need to do is refoam his working pair.

What I did with my M100s a couple of years ago and yes, the results are excellent.
