My brother had a pair of the original 100W’s. They had blown tweeters and he gave them to me. The rubber surrounds were also dry rotted. This was my first experience building or modifying speakers. This was in 1977 and I was 13 years old. Through the years I’ve built many speakers, amps, vacuum tube guitar amps and effects pedals. I’ve always restored vintage amps and receivers and generally have always had a very nice stereo system and home theater setup too. I recently purchased a pair of 100V’s that are original with re-foamed woofers. All I can say is WoW! I had never heard a pair before. I replaced the capacitors with film caps and braced the cabinets really good. I also replaced the fiberglass damping material with poly-fil. They have some of the best imaging of anything I’ve heard, and I’ve heard a lot. I hooked them up to a Lafayette LR-5555 I recently restored along with a good 12” powered subwoofer. I can’t quit listening to this setup! I know most of you have probably heard them before, but if you haven’t you need to. If setup properly in your listening area you will be surprised.

I have a restored pair of EPI M90 which are exactly the same as the M100. They are the only pair of speakers at our winter residence. I also use a 12" sub with them. They fill the 1040 sq ft condo and sound great doing it.
Those look great. I got the Dayton Audio CS1200 sub and couldn’t be happier with it. The two of them together sound incredible. I’m listening to just the EPI 100V’s and the subwoofer right now. And here’s a shot of a Lafayette LR-5555 reciever I just recently got. I tore it back open to finish replacing the rectifier modules and all the electrolytic capacitors. It sounded great with terribly out of spec parts. I can’t wait to finish it up. I upgraded the power supply caps to 15000 uf 63V from the stock 10000 uf 50V. I also stepped up the other caps in voltage.
