I just purchased an Onkyo TX-8555 receiver and tried to hook an equalizer to it ....no luck. The TX-8555 does not have a tape 'monitor' button. It has a "tape" button, but this appears to serve only as an input selection similar to selecting the tuner, TT, CD etc. So if I try to hook up through the tape loop (which is usually the way for a eq) it's a no go because when I select the tape button it turns the tuner/CD/phono off. This unit has a preamp OUT but no AMP IN. Anyone else ever ran into this on new audio equipment? Is there a workaround or something I'm missing? On my older units (Pioneer SX-850), whatever "input" was selected (tt/phono/aux) would continue to run through the "tape out" jacks when the "tape 1" was selected, but on the Onkyo, it appears that whatever "input" was previously selected is cancelled when you hit the "tape" button. Help.
