ESS Model 10?

Hi all,
So I bought these from CL and they had this horrendous fabric over the grills. The guy's wife said they had to go since they were so ugly. I am thinking she had been playing the long game and had chose the grill fabric a few years ago.. but anyway.

Does anybody have any knowledge/experience with these? The don't have the ESS Heil tweeter, but a dome that seems to get shrill at higher volumes (but sounds fine at lower). Just curious, I haven't been able to find out much about these, but I like them! Thanks!

That looks like a Phillips tweeter, which sound pretty good. I'm not sure why it's getting shrill at higher volumes.
 
It certainly does look like a Phillips, but the set I had purchased 40 years ago had mylar cones and a mesh grill to protect it. And glued to the center of the grill was a thin metal disc to prevent beaming.
