Big potential speakers. IMHO overpriced.

If they are as in the photo posted, they would be the early series III
better mid driver and little nicer cabinets.

Thanks for posting the literature sheet I have not read that previously.

Side note regarding the factory re-cone on these 15 drivers.
These are "almost" impossible to find the surrounds for, see previous threads
regarding this.
So re-cone or salvage is generally the way to go.

wow pretty set for sure ?? over priced well i think maybe so.

whats the problem with the surrounds ?

Looked at your orange county link surrounds, they do look right.
The proper surrounds were unavailable a few years back, perhaps they
read the threads here.
if they are like the originals
that is good news.:thmbsp:

ok,
i just checked... actually i only re-foamed 1 of them, still have a surround in the box from orange county. both have the foam behind the cone. I bought the speakers approx 2 1/2 years ago, prior history is not available. i can try some close up shots if you like ?
p.s. the cones appear to be different colors, not far off but different. i am almost sure one has been re-coned

I bought my replacement woofers NOS - so no need for foam. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to provide details for replacements. FWIW - the price is WOW. I bought my set for 2 franklins plus another Franklin for the NOS replacement woogers, and I mean NOS, no kidding. I got lucky. These are pry from my cold dead hands good ... but for that price I might take a good loooong thought. Ahh not ... I have the SEQ box too...OK for those with deep pockets I'd suggest JUMP and RUN. Mighty fine speaks there.... good wood and all.

Cheers,

Bob

I bet they sound fabulous. I've never heard them however would sure like to.
Looks to me they may have a bit more HF extension over the Model 19's I had due to the baby cheeks compression tweeter.

Best,

Paul :thmbsp:

They can get a tad horny - the SEQ box does 2 things, lowers the bass 1/2 octave (with the bass port closed off) and the control on the front has 3 settings to control the highs to tame them a tad for room acoustics. There's not very much documentation on the net other than lowering the bass but all the other SEQ boxes for all the other EV Sentry speaks have documentation regarding the control that lowers the peaks for the horns, and when I change the SEQ box control it affects the horn output but slightly, very subtle affect. Kinda softens the sound a little way up top but I'm 50 so it's pretty hard for me to hear much difference. There's also adjustments for the baby cheek horn on the speaker itself as well to fine tune. Pretty amazing speaker actually.

I think these were designed for theater use primarily but they made the cabs on many like mine to be worthy of home use and also made some ugly boxes I guess for theater/club applications that were basically a bass box with the horns on top.
Cheers,

Bob

NOHDjunkie- How do you get your scans so big and not go over the size limit? Mine always come out real little and barely fit size wise.
