No politics please.
Looking at exchange rates over the past couple of years the dollar has gained a lot of value against other currencies.
Every once and a while I purchase albums from other countries that I cannot find in the states. This week I just purchased a few from Germany and noticed that the Dollar has gained 21% over the DEM in the past year. I felt like I was getting a bit of a sale compared to purchases I have made in the past.
I am sure this makes our goods less of a bargain now to those outside the US. The Yen has 28% less buying power here than it did two years ago. I am sure this has slowed down vintage American made hifi heading overseas.
Here is a link to a nice historical rate exchange calculator with graphs. You can pull up some interesting exchange data. http://www.oanda.com/currency/historical-rates/
