Extra tracks

Having purchased CD copies of many vintage (read 60s & 70s) albums I have, I am irritated to have many of these CDs "remastered" with "extra tracks", that in many cases, destroys the feel/flow of the original vinyl record. One that comes to mind is Who's Next, with the CD cluttered with discarded tracks that were of substandard quality.

Is my opinion off base?

I agree wholeheartedly. I have yet to find a "bonus track" that I am glad to have.

My pet irritation is with "The Band." It's an album that stands beautifully together as a complete piece of work. Just when it is finished, all kinds of distracting outtakes and alternate mixes come on to destroy the mood. It would be fine if they put that on a second disc, or even if there was some way to have those tracks play only if you hit "play" again....

You're kidding, right? Can't you program out the bonus material if you don't like it?

Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth...

As long as the bonus stuff comes after the original album, I don't mind at all. I can always stop before the bonus material starts.
