Fairchild Pre Amp and Amp

Don't forget "POWER AMPLIFIER" underneath - it's hard to see in some pics but it is there. Also it looks like the font you are using is too condensed - I would guess the font should be "Helvetica Neue 65 medium" for "FAIRCHILD 255A".

Great catch on the word power amplifier.i really dont know how that slipped by me(i look at my amps everyday lol).il measure both sets of lettering when i get home and we'll get this all figured out.

Hey guys, I do graphic arts for a living and if someone can get me exact measurements and a good straight on photo or scan of the plate, I can duplicate it exactly in Illustrator. No MS Paint bitmap pixels or anything, just pure, smooth vector goodness. Sounds like the OP has a good source for getting it screened so happy to offer my services if any of you have something good for me to start with as a guide.

Thanks for the measurements, and yea I will round out the conners. I am not happy with my drawing I need to get a better program to edit and clean up the artwork.

FYI: I have not contacted them but found accompany web page which looks perfect for generating a thin metal face plate and they look to be open to one offs. Hopefully the price rite!

Anyone out there ever used them? I will start an new thread with the question.

Just in case anyone cares. There are two Fairchild 255's on eBay currently. They are from different sellers, but a pretty closely match pair cosmetically. They aren't cheap of course, but if someone acts reasonably quickly it could be a chance to pickup a pair.

Just search for Fairchild 255 and you'll find them. They are pretty close in price.

There is one 255 at a flea market that I frequent. The guy wants 200 US for it. He is the same guy that I bought a Dynaco PAS 3 from for 75 US. Looks and plays like new.

I'd be all over that for $200.if you don't want it I'll gladly buy it and pay you to ship it to me.

Yeah. You should snag it. Even if it's just to flip. Put it on eBay and you'll probably at least triple your money. Probably more.

Any Marantz Model 2s there or maybe a pair of Brook 12As?

Sheesh, get it and congrats.

I didn't buy it because there was only one of them. He also has a Fisher X100.
These amps aren't your everyday common dynaco, fisher etc...they are rare and well worth the $200 he is asking.they do show up on ebay now and then so finding a mate to make a stereo pair won't be that hard for a 255 compared to the less common 260 or 275.do yourself a favor and grab it or mabe let us know where it is so one of us can snag it.

You contradict yourself with your statements. Anyway, I am on my way to pick the 255 up. I looked on Ebay and there are 3 on there right now. After today, there will be 4.

FWIW the X100 is an excellent amp so if you're looking for a stereo one that wouldn't be a bad choice.

The man that had both gave me the Fisher. I told him what they were worth but he insisted. I left him a Zenith X334 tabletop to say thanks.
