Feeling Really Good

I’ll be 74 in less than a month and have been blessed (cursed)with more gear than one sensible man needs. It’s time for me to start letting go. My sister and nephew came by today on their way back to Florida after having spent a week over on Strom Thurmond Reservoir (Clark’s Hill Lake). I sent my nephew home with a nice little stereo — Scott RS300 receiver, Technics SL-Q200 turntable with Shure 99e cartridge, and a pair of Altec 886a speakers. He was most appreciative and I feel ... well, unburdened. It’s great

Happy to soon be your 74th birthday. It’s great you set your nephew up. I’m sure he appreciates it and will enjoy listening to music on his nice stereo system.

Yea eventually it feels good to let stuff go to someone who will care for it and appreciate it.

Trip down memory lane. I remember renting motor boats at Clark's Lake, with my girlfriend, when I was stationed at Ft. Gordon in '73. Just before they sent me to SE Asia.

Thanks for the memory. I turn 68 tomorrow. ;)

Artie,
Happy for your fond memories of Clark’s Hill lake. Sorry you had to make the trip to SE Asia.

I'm 68 we moved to a small cabin in the mountains. Like the OP I'm blessed with a lots of unsold gear. Back in the early days of the internet selling gear was easy. These days AudioGon is a joke and eBay is not much better.

Very nice to pass on the gear. I know a local guy in his 70s. He has cancer and doesn't expect to be around much longer. He wants to give away the audio gear he bought while he was in the Air Force. His son-in-law recently asked if I would be interested in the reel-to-reel. I said I was absolutely interested, but I feel somewhat awkward about showing up to pick it up. I'll just be patient.
