First pair of 6V6G tubes in da house

I've been looking around for a pair of big bottle 6V6G tubes for quite awhile.
Seems like most NOS pairs run around $100+, not including shipping. :sigh:
I snagged a pair of used-but-tested-good RCA 6V6G tubes for significantly less.
Should look pretty cool and....hopefully.....work and sound well?
I'll try to get some pics up as soon as the tubes arrive.

NICE!! I love mine - NOS Marconi 6V6G tubes that I overpaid for. BUT I love them - they sound really sweet in my refurbed maggie 8802 amp, not to mention look beautiful - really makes the 8802 look classy!:D

Well, the RCA 6V6G tubes arrived today safe and sound.

LOL.....I don't think ANY tube could make one of MY home brew amps look classy????
But seriously, they do look nice.

Sound wise, they're a different ball of wax than the Tung-Sol (USA) black glass 6V6GT tubes that were previously in the amp.
NOT better or worse mind you, just.....different.

And YES folks, pics are-ah-comin'.....er.....eventually.

I run a quad of 1939 GE 6v6G's in my main system, which is a pair of RCA SP-10 clones home built by an RCA engineer in the 50's. The amps punch as hard as any 6L6 amplifiers I have had through the shop! The coke bottles sound a lot better than the RCA GT's that were in there, all had close test results.

Anyone use the metal versions of the 6V6? I have an old radio from Australia that uses one for teh audio output.

I've had RCA mil. spec. 6V6 metal can tubes in that SE amp also.
They are pretty much the same as the RCA gray-glass 6V6GT tubes.
You can often find them FAR cheaper than RCA glass.
But..........................................
1) you better be a fan of the black industrial look
2) no glowing tubes to remind you that these are tubes
