First yoga class

My wife and I went to our first yoga class last night and I must say I'm impressed. Strength building and stretching all-in-one. After the class I felt like I'd had a good workout, and yet I wasn't exhausted. :thmbsp:

When we got home my wife asked me what I thought about the class. I told her my basic impressions -- see above -- and said I wanted to continue with classes. Then I told her that while some of the yoga positions were difficult, all of them would be much more interesting if she were on top of me while I did them. :stupid:

My bruises should heal in a few days. :D

Nah, she took it in the right spirit -- she knows my twisted sense of humor well, and that she is the best looking woman in the class. :thmbsp:

I've always been a believer in stretching after whatever exercise, and not quite 20 years ago bought a book on sport stretching, which had at least a few hundred stretches in it. They have a section in the book that recommends various stretches for a particular sport.

Four or so years ago, I bought the book Yoga for Runners with the delusional impression that running was going to be part of my regiment. (that didn't last long, just don't enjoy running that much) The yoga book contains stretches (or 'poses', as they are called) that are virtually identical to the ones found in the book on stretching for sports.

Yoga, stretching or whatever one might call it, is something that makes me feel better, and has more than likely reduced the number of muscle pulls and related issues one might experience. I know when I do pull a muscle now, it takes longer to recover than it did when I was 20. I've been lucky this year, haven't had any. Last year there were a few that put a hamper on things, though.
