I am an acquaintance of the seller and he usually prices his gear at top dollar. For some reason, I'm thinking about getting a tube integrated or receiver and this one looks very nice. I am assuming it will need some sort of restoration and I'm sure the tubes have not been tested. What to you guys/gals think about the price? Thanks

Per the ad, it sounds like it's all original, works flawlessly and ready for enjoyment. That being said, I think $900.00 is pretty high and that's probably why it's been up for sale for at least 27 days. I'd think one like this would be in the $550.00-$700.00 range.

Way too high. There was a really nice one on eBay, original box and manuals, no case, that didn't even break $700 shipped. The only one on eBay that broke $700 was $1500 for a fully restored one, which is still high I think.

Yup gotta agree too high for unrestored. Unless you know how to do the work yourself, or have somebody that you know that will give you a good rate, shipping it out to somebody who will do a complete and thorough restoration will normally cost several hundred dollars, at best. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for an unrestored tube receiver.

Thanks a bunch guys, I appreciate it.:thmbsp: It would not be my first choice to begin with. I rarely listen to local radio and, when I do, it's FM. The AM section would never be used. I think I will pass.

IMHO, higher than market for unrestored, below market for restored. That said, IMHO there is no real reason why the "B" series receivers should sell for a lower price than the "C" series receivers, other than the lack of a headphone output.

The listing does say "OBO". Make him an offer. I like the fact it's local so no shipping. Looks very clean. If you're so inclined you can hook up with the Fisher Forum Folks and restore yourself. That's what I did.

My friend who does vintage tube gear repair and restoration and is a collector of big consoles, mainly E.H. Scott. He prefers the B over the C. His explanation kind of went over my head  but, it's regarding an "Eye" tube in the B vs a meter in the C. He claims the B is better in that regard. Take it for what it's worth but he dose know vintage tube gear.
