Fisher CC-3000 Pre

I've been collecting, buying and selling vintage audio on and off for about 25 years... alot of it before it was vintage! I have one piece of gear that I have owned for many many years and to me, it's magic. It's a Fisher CC-3000 preamp that I've used with many different amps, and continue to use with a Carver TFM-6CB, and it never fails to impress me. Although from time to time, i have to shoot some cleaner in the controls, it's sound is not only better than any other pre amp I've owned... and I've owned quite a few...tubes included, but it's a considerable difference! I've done some searches but really can't find much info on this beauty. Does anyone here on AK own one, or have any info on this model?

Another CC-3000

Picked up this pre from a friend, along with the other components (tuner, amp, cassette deck, EQ and system timer). Looks like it was an early rack system before they cheapened the line. I have a host of manuals and can scan them if anyone likes.
 
Hmm, From many years, I own full rack system of this Fishers components. CC3000, Tuner, EQ. Also amps, BA3000 and BA6000.
For me their look is the best. White aluminum.
About sound, what to say?
BA are mid level integrated amps. May be impressive for their time, late 70's.
Before a few months I bought this (damaged) BA6000 for donor, for my new project amp. Only I can say, is that, my new DIY amp, perform better than original BA3000. With driwers 2SA1837 / 2SC4793 , and 2SA1943/2SC5200 Toshiba.
 
I've got a CC-3000 pre amp about five years ago and I love the thing. It drives a X-101C and a Fisher 800B. I recapped it a couple of months ago.

I have a similar possible setup with a Fisher 400 Receiver; just curious, did you rewire the 800B to get a pure pre-amp input, or are you just running the CC-3000 pre-amp into the AUX in on the 800B, effectively having two pre-amps? Cheers! -R
 
Very old thread, but it made me curious about the Fisher CC-3000. Found one for the right price. Holy crap! The OP was right. For the money, this is by far the best preamp I own. Just seems to do everything right. Currently feeding it to a McIntosh MC-2125. Yeah, bizarre combo, but Wow!
 
Very old thread, indeed and now even older. Earlier this year I connected a Fisher CC-3000 to a Carver M-400a amp, Harman Kardon TU-910 tuner and KLH Thirty Eight speakers (not considered exceptional speakers). Not sure, but I believe the TT was Technics SL-Q3. Quite a surprise for how great it sounded. Presence and lots of detail.

The room is 12 ft x 15 ft, two exterior brick walls, interior surfaces are real plaster and the floor is brick. I've wondered if these things make a difference. On the other hand, at my age much of my extended high frequency range hearing is gone. Some day maybe I'll have time to set up another system in the same room (and the CC-3000 setup in a different room) to test whether the room enhances the CC-3000.

Maybe I could be shot or hanged for writing this, but the CC-3000 gave my HK Citation eleven a run for its money, as they say, in this same setup.

This Fisher model is from 1979 to 1981, and made in Japan. Some have said it and the related components were the last good Fisher units.

Nice things about the CC-3000 are 3 phono hookups, three MM loading settings and MC.

I can understand the bizarre combo with the McIntosh.
 
My Fisher CC-3000 is still going! But I sold it to a neighbor, who pairs it with a NuForce STA-200 (Goldmund JOB 225) amplifier. The low gain of the Fisher preamp pairs very well with the high gain of the NuForce amp. Sounds great!
 
i've had a few across my bench. kept one for myself. been using it with a nad 2140 for a few years. pretty good phono stage.

the nylon switch couplers are the achilles heel of this unit.

just the cc3000

the ba3000 and ba6000 power amps are stk based. toroidal transformers. they are dull and flat sounding(even after recaps) i've had several across my bench and they are all boring sounding. the ba6000 shocked me with 170wpc @1khz @4 ohm before clipping. but who cares how much power it has if it sounds 'meh'

they look good with their analog vu meters but again, who cares if it sounds "meh"

the matching eq is ok but nothing special. i think i have one in the box somewhere. its a 10 band but the channels are combined on the sliders.

the tape decks look nice but i've not heard them. they all needed too much disassembly to change belts and i was too slammed to mess with them.

the tuner is a tuner

the turntable was overly complicated messes. i think they were programmable. i never had time to get intimate enough with the table that was here to get it working.

guess i took no pics of the tape decks. i know i had at least one 3 head that matched. it had vu meters and it did look good....
