Fisher Chassis Condition

Dual Turntables Super-Restorer
I just received the Hayseed kits for this Fisher and a Scott 299D.
My Scott looks like the decade it was built but the Fisher, which I have not touched since 2013, looks like it has been sprayed with sea water, with rust spots on chassis and trannys. Faceplate still looks good, though.
Why is it looking like an old Datsun 240Z (rust bucket), rather than a nice car from the Sun Belt?

Scott is aluminum and Fisher is steel.
But the rust and stains seem to have appeared for no reason, and you are probably correct about cadmium.

Most of the Fisher's I have owned that had rust, either were stored under a non climate controlled area (shed, garage, etc.) and had a mouse living in it at some point. A drink spilled down into it could also promote rust along with a life of residing on an ocean coastal environment. Humidity usually just causes the plating to get chalky, so it's most likely has had some type of corrosive exposure. Scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner really seems to work best for me when I try and detail the chassis, it removes everything but the rust. I use a small scrunge pad with PB Blaster to work those areas.
