How cool is this Forum, I joined researching for information on my PA system and shazzam its got a photography section and seeing how I make my living with the lens I'd like to share some pictures I have taken over the years. I am a retired flattrack racer myself and after taking a tumble at age 45 I decided to quit it all together but I wanted to remain in the sport I dearly love so I started shooting. I will be traveling to Springfield Ill. Memorial Day weekend to shoot the TT and the Mile. If you have never been to a Flattrack Motorcycle Race there pretty cool, 140MPH plus on a mile track with only helmet and leathers.

Thanks for the warm welcome, the first shot was taken with an older Canon D-60 with a (believe it or not) a Sigma 70-300 F-4 The #33 was shot with the D-60 with the Canon 70-200 USM F-2 as was the 31 shot also, the #21 was shot with a Canon 30-D with a Canon 300mm Telephoto, I have a 10-D also, being on a budget that Canon Mark3 is gonna have to wait, or at least until they get down to about $1500.00 LOL The first picture you may find hanging in any Harley shop across the United States, I have done well with that image. Thanks again...did I post the pictures to large? Jim

Springfield Mile

Much appriciated everyone, thank you! I will post a few pictures when I return from the Springfield Mile at the end of the month. I have posted some images from the 2007 Labor Day Springfield Mile, the race takes place in Springfield Ill at the State Fairgrounds if anyone is interested in seeing one of the most spectacular forms of motorcycle racing that is still going on today. I dont miss them for the world.
These guys (and girls) we have one female expert named Nichole Cheza #15 but she was injured while testing in Montecello NY this past month and wont be able to ride, to see these riders risk life and limb at 140mph elbow to elbow is a spine chilling experiance, oh and the sound of those factory Harley Davidson XR 750s you will never forget. If you look close on the #80 bike (Rich King) you can see the determanation in his eyes, in the last picture the guys tuck down as small as they can to break the wind because drafting plays a huge part on the mile tracks, alot of time that determans who wins the race, most all finishes are a photo finish the racing is that close. :thmbsp: Thanks again.
Jim

Great shots Jim! Looks like alot of fun. Wonder if my KLR would keep up! I don't know too much about the sport, but I happened across some racing at our local fairgrounds a couple years ago. I rushed home to get my camera equipment, and managed to get a couple OK shots out of maybe 100. It was my first real test of panning :)
