I work in HVAC and we were servicing a furnace today in the basement of an 80 year old woman’s home. I see these two babies just sitting there on a work bench…the lady says they’ve been there for about 3 years. They were working at that time, she says. Her husband has passed away…he was the original owner and bought them new in 1974. Long story short, she’s interested in selling them, knows that they’re the best because her husband only bought the best. She has the original paperwork somewhere too. What’s a fair offer? I know what they’re worth, in general, but I’m a reseller/collector/hobbyist…don’t want to get in over my head. MX112 and MC2505. Beautiful.

Should have some early version of Bose 901’s as well. I’d offer 1000.00 untested. If she lets you test them out and they both work, up your offer by 500.00.

https://www.audioclassics.com/ has an inventory and price data on almost everything McIntosh. Their prices are at the high end of the market. FWIW Bose speakers are very common so don't expect to make a score flipping those; the speakers need to have the Bose equalizer. Good luck. Be fair and remember karma!

Even if working when tested, that is still a long way from not having issues that will be found with a proper tech analysis, and also using them for a while. Have to leave room for that.
I found a restoration kit on eBay for $195…from hifiaudio.com. Seems like a decent kit…thoughts? There’s a kit for the MX112 as well.
