Found these guys at the goodwill today. Little one is an isophon and the other 2 I believe are electrohome but zenith also made a pair not sure. I passed up 2 pairs before but then I seen some on the bay go for a little $$ so I decided to grab a pair, I never thought they were anything special but just cool looking.

I like the little guy, too. Kinda reminds of R2D2. Anyway, I picked up a pair of Sears Roebuck Model 7474 and my local DAV for 5 bucks. They honestly dont sound too bad but I picked up some 6 1/2" JBL woofers from "feepay" to slap into them. I've got a pile of caps and crossovers that I might experiment with, too. I guess I must be bored. I should be getting the woofers in the next few days.

Those could be very interesting with a high quality coaxial or fullrange driver. They might make tip-top surround speakers too.

A surround application is kinda what I was thinking, or possibly even something involved with my computer. I have a box full of "chip amps" that I am constantly picking up at garage sales, DAV etc. These kinds of projects can be fun.

Not to get tiresome repeating myself, but those little omnis sound surprisingly good outdoors.

I love the styling. I'd think some re-enforcement of the "cabinets" and a few shillings spent at Parts Express for some nice drivers could yield great results...

I'm glad you did repeat yourself, Nat. I've been pondering something for the pool/deck area. I obviously wouldn't leave them out in the weather, the way they are at the moment, but they are small enough to move in and out.

"circle of sound"

I had the Zenith cicle of sound at age 15...I thought I had died and gone to heaven. The speakers sounded surprisingly good, but then again my memories are very distorted to make life more interesting!:sigh:

Those omnis were quite the thing in the late sixties to early seventies.

My little Coronado consolette I got for comfirmation in 1968 had them built right onto the ends of the one piece cabinet.

I remember being amused seeing them from several different manufacturers after that.
