I recapped the PS board and also added a bourns Variable Resistor . I also removed the other heat sink and transistor and added thermal past as there was none
on that part. Cleaned as much of the glue off the board as well. I still might change out the 1S1885 diodes with some SYVB27-100 soft recovery types , Got that from The POOGE Chronicles a collection of articles
from Audio Electronics magazine formerly Audio Amature . Pretty interesting reads there.
Most of the old caps measured ok value wise , except the one 100uf 16 volt , it measure 63 uf . The ESR's were good on some and higher than the new on others.
What my Parts tester showed was all the old caps had a much higher voltage loss reading then any of the new caps which were all under 1%
It is amazing how miniaturized new caps are too the older ones. Makes you wonder if they choose values based on physical size at the time and if now increasing some of the values
might benefit some . Just a thought.
