Gal Needs Help! Please spec an equivalent transistor & cross ref question

Thanks in advance! First I need help in finding an equivalent to a 2SD313E transistor. I rarely work on anything but tube stuff and I need one I can possibly buy from Mouser. Also, does anyone have a source or link I can use to find modern transistor equivalents so I don't have to bother you nice guys and gals on this site? Thanks so much and Happy New Year!

Looks like an equivalent/replacement might be a 2SC1061 - however finding one now might be difficult.

When you are searching for a transistor equivalent, just search AK for the type number - it will usually bring up many threads where people have wanted to know of an equivalent for it. Also there are two or three threads devoted to nothing else but lists of semiconductor equivalents.

I don't know the answer to your question, but related to above, rather than using the site search, i've found I get more results if I just punch my search terms into the googs and then append "site:audiokarma.com"

+1. Tip31C is 30 watt - Tip41C is 40 watt. MJE15032G is good choice too.

The D313 is generally used as a pass transistor in voltage regulators. In that case, I just use the biggest & baddest replacement that I can muster for a replacement, and that usually means the On-Semi MJE15032G.

www.alltransistors.com Is a good site to use when searching for equivalent or substitute transistors. I think it is a good idea to always start with the data sheet of the item you are replacing, search for equivalents, confirm your findings via the data sheet of your find, and always consider the application, environment and usage of the original.

It is hard to argue with testimonials like EW has just offered, especially if the application and usage is the same. Always try to provide as much pertinent information as possible so that you have a better chance of getting the "correct" suggestion.

I've used a MJE15032G in the power supplies of Pioneer receivers and NAD tuners I've worked on. The full Mouser part number is : 863-MJE15032G. Save your frustration and buy a couple, they always seem to go out of stock whenever you need one.

Steve you nailed it: The All Transistor Database is where I go. It is really handy as it lists Germanium Transistors and their substitutions. You are not going to find the OEM sub's, at least not for any price you would be willing to pay but at least you have the spec's for the transistor. Take this over to the data bases for the Russian Germanium transistors and you can find what you need there. When you can get 25 of them for $10 dollars or so experimenting with them is not expensive. The Russian B416A Germanium happens to be a good sub for the AM RF side on a Zenith Transoceanic Royal 3000-1, not the FM side. I have one outfitted with them. They also should work in the RF side of a Royal 1000-1. All Russian transistors Germanium or Silicone are build like a T-54 main battle tank.
