Stopped at a garage sale on my way to work this morning...nothing much there til I spied some walnut. A pair of smallish bookshelf speakers marked $10. Of course I offer $5 and they ended up in my car. Sherwood "Woodstock" 8" 2-ways. I've never run across any Sherwood speakers...these are heavy little buggers. 18"X11"X9"....3/4" MDF with nice walnut veneer. If it weren't for the brown tweed grille cloth I'd say they were baby brothers to my Ampex 1115s. They get tested tonight...I'll try to post a pic then.

Probably part of the same series as the Tanglewood and Ravennia speakers. Nice and well built, though a little dim by modern standards, but unusual enough so that they are a definite score.
 
Pulled a grille & found a pretty nice looking woofer with a treated cloth surround. The tweeter, however, is a very generic cone type. Even with a level control, I can see why the sound may be described as "dim". I have a couple of phenolic ring tweeters lying around and might pop those in for a comparo. Pics will come.
 
The sale was at a lake home just outside of Alexandria...saw the sign by the highway, and since I had about 10 minutes til I had to be at work, thought I'd give it a quick look. BTW: My St. Cloud proxy shopper buddy finally found a copy of "The White Album" for me. 2 bux...said it was the ONLY vinyl at the sale he stopped at! I'm stoked!
 
Those are mighty close! Slight difference to the cabinets on mine...a routed decorative edge at the front. Grille cloth looks the same. Those woofers look nearly identical, and the tweeters (if I'm seeing the picture clearly) may be similar square-framed cone jobbies. Mine have a tweeter level control...obviously a "high-end" variation.
