Garrard Changer Tune Up Document?

I have downloaded the specific service manuals for our Garrard SLX-2 and our
5-300 out of a KLH 30 but I'm looking for something more specific about specific
types of oil and or grease that should be used.
There is one linked here about Duals, is there one for Garrards?

Also looking for the best place to buy idler wheels, the SLX certainly needs a new
one and I'd like top quality for that. For the 5-300 I wouldn't mind using a cheaper one.

Thanks in Advance!

Most of the Garrard service manuals specify light oil like sewing machine oil, and grease about the thickness of petroleum jelly. I usually use sewing machine oil or hydraulic oil, and Sil-Glyde silicone grease. The hydraulic oil is an ISO-46, nothing really special, just happens to be what we use in fork lifts at work and its what my Thorens wants in the bearing well. I lifted a 1 pint bottle out of the 5 gallon pail and figure that will last me for years. Generally I find they aren't that fussy about what you use, so long as its not sticky and isn't where it doesn't belong.

Your Garrard is an AutoSlim mechanism variant. Big issue with overhaul documents, is there's several major mechanism families in terms of post 1950 Garrards. There's the 3 speed pusher platform mechanism from 1950- Garrard A 70 Mk II. Then there's the LAB 80 and LAB 80 Mk II (unique to themselves). Then the AutoSlim mechanism, then Large chassis AutoSlim mechanism, followed by the infamous Unimech mechanism. And there's also the units with Panasonic motors in there.

By comparison, Dual changers in the idler wheel era, had little change from the 1009 to the 1226 except for feature and evolutionary differences and spindles and cartridge mount changes. The basic mechanism was used by Dual for many years.

lithium grease should be fine too. It just needs to not melt and not be so stiff that it causes problems. You really don't need very much of it, a few spots need a light wipe of grease where things have to contact.

yes there are multiple mechanisms, so referring to the service manual is a good thing but I've used the same lubes on several different Garrard families without any issue. Just have to put it where it goes on that specific machine.

Hi,
can you share the SLX 2 documentation (e.g. service manual) with me? I'm trying to fix the automatic function and any information would be welcome
Thanks

I downloaded everything from here for free, it is worth joining to get them:

A friend also pointed this out:

Okay, I seem to remember that it was a derivative of the 3500 but maybe with a synchronous motor. All
I'm finding is the 3500 manual on my computer. It says file too large when I try to upload it here, get it
from vinylengine.

EDIT: HERE'S MY SPECIFIC THREAD ABOUT THE SLX-2:
https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/garrard-slx-2-changer-tune-up-and-lube.969648/

I found the above by searching "garrard "Pete B" audiokarma" at google since the search is broken here.

Let me know if you have problems and I'll look for my copies.
