Garrard Crown RC90

A friend of mine called me and told me he had a Garrard Crown RC90 that he wanted to get rid of. First of all, I couldn't find too much out about it so I don't even know if it's worth getting. If it is, what would be a fair price to give my buddy? He said he thinks it still works but doesn't have a way to test it. Thanks for any information you can provide.

The RC-90 is an upgrade from the RC-80. Not sure exactly what was better, but it was the next model up. If I'm not too far off here, it dates from the mid 1950s and is probably one of Garrard's earlier multispeed changers. It'll run heavy, probably in the 5-10 gram range, almost certainly is wired in mono, and after over a half century definitely will need a teardown and re-lube to run right. Its probably a great 78 rpm changer but for LPs, you can do a lot better. They do look sort of cool though with that side pusher mechanism.
 
Thanks gadget73, I was just trying to help him out as I'd end up taking it to the Kutztown antique radio show and just try to get out of it what I have into it. Sounds like without someone looking for the exact model for a project, like console restoration or something that it might be mine forever!! :) You're right though, they are cool looking. Thanks again!
