GE RD630-2 stylus placement

I just bought a nice General Electric combo console but the turntable places the stylus in the middle of the LP. The turntable is GE rd630-2. I noticed if I put the speed setting on 33 it's in the middle of the LP and if I put it past 33 it's in the first 3rd of the record. I can't tell what changes the stylus placement though.
