Gluttony (or, what I'm giving myself for my birthday).

You do know I'm a San Francisco Art Institute alum, don't you? Wink, wink, wink. ;)

No I didn't, very cool!

The "wink" was for the crack in the other thread. Hope you didn't take it personally!

Show us some art!

I took it personally...in a positive way, and like a man!

I'm in "Art Recovery" now, and have been for a number of years. My farewell show was 10,000 sq ft of empty walls and pictures of empty walls. The reviews were mixed, and the sales tanked (although there were commissions).

The first shoe drops...

...or rather the first three. When I saw the packaging, my heart sank. Burst seams. Styro-nuts spilling out. But all's OK.

The AR-2ax's are a little rough, but they were a bonus and I figured they'd be a project. Only one slightly dinged corner, one scratch, very dry. I'll re-oil 'em, clean the grills and (oh yeah) see if they work. ;-)

The MAC 4100 is pretty grimey (nicotine), but ought to clean up pretty well. Looks very clean otherwise. Came with ALL the papers (brochure, owners manual, full service manual, registration blank, and service agreement). 1984 vintage.

Monday, my package from Merrylander should arrive. I imagine the packing to be quite different.

Congrats on a safe arrival, despite the issues with the boxes!

As for the McIntosh, that's a stunner! Better looking design than it first appeared to me!

I wish you well with them!

Thanks. The Mac was purchased on August 8th, 1984 in Allentown, PA.

Paul, see that box peaking out behind the speakers? It's got your name on it. :)

Saturday. Bill Clinton and I have a couple of things in common.

We share the same birthday, we both cherish Hope Arkansas (for different reasons), and we both like cigars (for different reasons).

I don't do politics on forums.

August 8th, 1984?!? THAT took a long time getting to you!!! :stupid:

So, how'd you fit a pair of Boston Acousics A150s and a pair of A200s (for spares for mine, of course) along with the Yammie into that little box? :scratch2: :D

Befores I gots runned over, I used to run a silver KHS Aero bent seat-tube fixed gear track bike. 50 tooth front, 14 rear, on these hilly Boston streets. Mavic aero CP rims (I think) on vintage Suntour Superbe hubs (I know).

PM,

The pic's not showing up.

I'd love to see it.

We're hijacking your thread, by the way! :D

I've done the bicycle thing passively for 30 years, actively for 23.

I'm still on wheels, but these aren't anywheres near as fun... :tears:

But at least it's titanium. :smoke:

It's showing above (for me), but here's another. It's one of my "work" vehicles.

Latest update.

The MAC 4100 is GREAT (the tuner is amazing). All minor controls are dirty, so the cover comes off next week for a thorough cleaning.

The AR-2ax's will need some work. The mid and tweet on one are inoperative, so I presume it's the pots. I'll order Layne Audio's 2ax XO Upgrade kit, as they are bound to need new caps anyway. I'll start working on the cabs in a couple of weeks. Some sanding, some wood putty, lots of patience (not my strong suit).

These may end up in the living room as companions to my Cornwalls, if I can get them looking nice.

Happy B'day. Nice presents.

The Menil is one of my favorite museums - my wife's uncle was a curator there until he passed away last year. I like the Byzantine chapel and particularly their Magritte collection. My wife (BFA San Francisco State) does like the Rothko chapel - I just find it gloomy.
