On another forum a gent offered a free cd player. Not knowing much but needing one for the master bedroom I asked if it was still available. He said yes. So the gent packed it up, shipped it and arrived safely. All on his dime.:beerchug:

What an amazing gesture this was. Box, remote and it's practically brand new as he shelved it soon after he bought it having upgraded. Anyway, having karma like this in my house is absolutely awesome. The wife was skeptical but was impressed also.
I'm not particularly picky about cd players as I can't hear the difference between this one and the Sony 7700 I have.
A really cool feature of having a 1/4" headphone out jack with adjustable level control.
So one can listen to their CD collection without having an external headphone amp. Niiice.
Besides, it's all about the music and I'm not looking for every last ting, scrape, fart or breath in the music. As an added bonus it does sound good so I'm triple grateful.
Thanks for the read.

I've received a few very nice pieces of gear for free that I offered to pay for, or help them sell it. People I come across are mostly kind and generous, but they never make the news. A friend here on AK put a very sweet copy of Exile On Main Street on my porch one day. Yeah, life is good if you look in the right direction.

While I have been very fortunate over the years, I always try to make sure I pay some back.

Sometimes we need a reminder there are still plenty of good people out there, they're just not getting any air time, pity.

I guess I was raised/indoctrinated relatively right. I still hold doors for little old ladies and help them with their groceries--have even paid for them on occasion if they only have a few things and they were trapped in line with me and my giant cart full of stuff. One of the problems with the internet and social media is that it is a perfect forum to bitch about everything, but far fewer people bother to post about the good experiences that they have on a daily basis. The world can be a cruel and hard place, but in general, it is not as bad as it seems--there still are a lot of good people out there, and I have had the pleasure of dealing with many of them.

I've heard it said that the chickens just don't give a cluck.:D

Damn dude those chickens. Mine just ignore me and sh*t everywhere..... No appreciation of fine audio at all

Great thread. Thanks for starting it.

I have given away things and enjoy the feeling it gives me back (Instant Karma :)).

Yes, I've 2 mates running 3 entire systems from my old gear and a few more with just individual components. I've found that my mates appreciate gear more of I get them to pay something (1/4 of the gears value usually) rather than give it to them. Then again there's another mate where I donated a tube phono stage with some NOS tubes who is just over the moon. I'd rather my old gear continue to make someone happy once I no longer want it

I'm always so much happier when I give things away instead of throwing them away!

I don't believe I've ever thrown anything away. There's always someone who loves audio though doesn't have the free funds, or has different monetary priorities can benefit :)

I don't think I've ever managed a bargain myself though I have been incredibly lucky to meet some people who have given great advice, and assisted with upgrading capacitors etc in my gear. Some of my biggest gains have come from the DIY work of others. The most cost effective too.

Frankly without advice of members on AudioKarma and Stereonet and plenty of Googling my system would never have progressed beyond what you can hear in most HiFi stores.

Yes, the media specialize in selling negativity. If we listen to them then the end of the world isn't far off

Yup, the world is ending too. Did I mention the world is ending?
