Got an Optonica SM-3636 in a trade...

Awhile back i got an SM-4646 monoblock Delta powered Optonica amp. Around May of 2016. I was very impressed with that beast. So i always wanted its little brother the SM-3636 for a second system. And finally got one in a trade for my Pioneer SX-980. I think it was well worth it as im not a flipper but more of a listener and keeper of my equipment. Anyone have an SM-3636? And what do you think of its sound? I havent had a chance to hook her up yet because my apartment is too small for two systems. Im installing pictures of both these beasts.

Yes, I picked it up for a song, was in pretty rough shape when I got it - I made new end panels out of brazilian wanut, put blue LEDs in the maters and did some serious cleaning. I really like the layout of the innards, makes it relatively easy to service compared to some I've worked on. It's rated at 40W but I think that is a wee bit conservative. Optonicas used to be under the radar but the secret is out I'm afraid.

The secret is out. Everyone on my vinyl forums know that Optonica has some very serious gear. Is your SM-1515B monoblock? Ill bet it looks cool with the blue LED’s in it.
 
SM-1515- no, not a monoblock, it does look nice - I'm keeping a lookout for the matching tuner(set it up on Ebay to notify me when optonica gear comes up) nothing for a while.

The ones i have are the CP-2121's. Bought them awhile back. Here they are.

Its a dual mono design, meaning it has two transformers, one for each channel. It actually has 3. One for the preamp section. A well designed amp that sounds amazing.

My first silver face Optonica,won in an auction.All my other amps from this brand are slim-line models.
Been listening to this for three days now and it passes all the tests.Phono stage is unreal!Bass is drinkable,sound stage mesmerising.

Cant drag myself away from the soundstage....now going through lots of discs and vinyl.Beautiful little amp.
