I recently heard a pair of Manger type speakers. Why in the world doesn't the rest of the world adopt this type of transducer? Is it patent protected? Holy god are they awesome! Have they been around for a while? I feel like the audition has placed me into a new understanding of what could be....and i thought themy Theil stuff was good. Any one else have a pair?

what transducer type is it? There is nothing I can find on the website that specifies the technology type...ok wait the pdf is there.

Wow, that is interesting stuff...totally rudimentary at heart though - basing a driver construction the same way that the human ear is designed...really brilliant idea - and kind of off-setting that it wasn't thought of before? Maybe it was? Never implemented properly? I would like to hear one.

...they have basically taken a dynamic speaker and flattened the cone ....his theory is all based on transients and attack : he claims a voice coil is slowed down by having to accelerate the whole cone ...so what he's done is make the membrane (cone) flexible , flat , and has the voice coil in the center : so its like a piece of stretched cellophane across a circle : and the voice coil pushes in the center : he claims this means the vc does not have to accelerate the whole cone , he claims this allows a faster attack on transients and therefore is more realistic ......valid supposition I suppose : but it reminds me of some of the "alternative" engine theories : in theory the poppet valve engine should not get the mileage and produce the power that it does : but it does! (100 yrs of development doesnt hurt)
I did a quick read : but I dont get where he proves his design outperforms what we now have .... his idea makes some rudimentary sense (engineers please chime in) but he needs to go up against known standards of measure ( his competition) and beat them. the dynamic speaker, as we know it has been around a long time (like the poppet valve engine) ... because it works
