Started off working out to some GFR live great stuff, got me wondering about all the lps this lil garage band sold! Closer to home, E pluribus Funk, Good Playing Good Singing, and a slew of other hit lps.I have loved this band since I was 16 yrs old. It is a shame Mark is not in the band any more. Ah the music business. This band fron Flint Mich, sold out
Shea Stadium faster than the Beatles. Mark was on That metal Show again Sat. Funny guy who wrote and sang 90% of their music he should be in the group.Just thought I would give GFR A LITTLE LOVE. Anyone ever seen them live and how were they?:D

Grand Funk is a great band to listen to. Love their stuff.

Their first album was the first album I ever bought. The last album they made produced by Frank Zappa was the worsed album they ever made. Phoenix was my favorite.
 
I wondered what happened to Mark Farner so I did the google on Grand Funk -
and found Mark had became a Christian recording Artist? Woah!
Not trying to insult the man, just surprised.

I have seen them a couple of times here in Seattle. Back in 1969 at the Seattle Center, then at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. The Seattle concert I somewhat remember....... My ears were ringing for days afterwards.......The opening group was Bloodrock which put on a hell of a show. The Puyallup show, not sure if anyone opened for them. I have most of their cds.

Shea Stadium was rockin' that night. (You Tube video Closer to Home) Those bleacher seats were shaking that night in NY

Just remembered Caught in the Act LP. I dug it out and put some Black Liceroce on my phone. I'll guess I'll have to walk like a man! Kick It GRAND FUNK.
 
I liked the earlier stuff, then We're An American Band sorta turned me off, but they did have a few decent songs later on. Phoenix is a great album. Aimless Lady, Inside Looking Out and Closer to Home are probably my favorite songs by them.
 
I first discovered them on their 2nd studio record Grand Funk (the red album) when it came out in about 1969 or 1970. I never got to see them live, but I'll bet they put on one hell of a show.
 
Saw them live in Madison Wi. In the 70, s One of the best I ha e seen and I have seen alot of bands in my time. Sure would be great to see them again.

So glad we were alive when GFR were around when we where kids hard to believe that when they opened up for LZ and the management team for LZ came out and said that by some contractual reasons GFR had to stop playing Mark said it was because GFR was kincking their butts their story not mine. but GFR reallys was the creme of the crop back then. Please me Baby. Rock on GFR. But get Mark back in the band for this summer come on dudes lets get it on:thmbsp:. Lets get Together and rock. Enough money to go around
 
I was listening to the song creeping it reminds me of our government and politicians. Give it a listen and see what you think.
 
I saw Grand Funk RR in either late '69 or very early '70 at MSG in NYC opening up for Sly & the Family Stone. Get this lineup for the show: GF RR, Fleetwood Mac (original lineup with Peter Green), Richard Pryor, & Sly & Family Stone.
Sly didn't come on 'til 1:30. Show ended at 3:30AM. Now that concert was worth the $5 admission fee. :yes:
