Great Speakers? Jamo Concert 8

Jamo Concert 8 speakers. Are they great sounding speakers? I hope so because I just bought a pair! And I did so without knowing much about the model or manufacturer. They looked the part so I took the leap. I just got home and now I want to know what I have in these solid, chunky, two-ways from EUR.

Jamo like many others have made both good and bad products. But if looks are any indication, those should be a pleasure to own.
Keep us updated with your impressions.

very well recieved speakers, iam very jealous!

jamo produced alot of crap but the concert 8 is top notch, very expensive seas excel drivers with very good crossover and build quality.

you got a modern classic there!

You have a super set of speakers there. I have a pair myself. The main criterior for their design was for the human voice. They do this with the Magnesium Coned Bass driver. It is very stiff but light and does not flex and start to break up until a much higher frequency than the norm. Consequently the human voice is dealt with exclusively by the bass driver and does not get coloured by the cross over as it shifts to the tweeter. No doubt some sopranos will put it to the test!!!!

As an aside, they are over 100W rated RMS even though they are just titches and the tweeter has a silver wire voice coil which is ferro fluidic cooled. These are not run of the mill bookshelf boom boxes. Try your favourite voice track through them and see for your self. I want their bigger brothers if these are anything to go by the Concert 11.

Comprehensive reviews are plenty, next to the one already mentioned, this TNT review seems intelligible.

Their writing on it isn't very forgiving... Remaining question; How do you like them?

Those are great speakers. I own the step below them (D430's) which I love along with the next step down E855 towers which are in my home theater. Enjoy them.

How much?

Sound?

We's dyin' to know here. Sweet speakers, you lucky..... Wait, I still don't know how much you paid, so the lucky part's still up in the air.

I'd like to say it took me 1 year+ of critical listening to form an opinion on the Jamo Concert 8s, but that's not what happened. I got them home and planned to plug them right in to my main system (Nakamichi PA7 CA7 Music Hall mmf 5.1 Sansui TU-717 B&W DM7s) when I got a phone call regarding some Altec and JBL gear that sent me spinning like Indiana Jones in search of "fantastic treasure!" But that's a whole different story... The Jamo Concert 8s is a first class loudspeaker with outstanding build quality. It features the wonderful SEAS excel midrange woofer at it's heart. This is a top notch driver that gives the Concert 8 its clean, quick sound, which I find very satisfying to my ear. Aided by dead solid cabinets(almost 50lbs each!) these speakers have great dynamics combined with very low distortion. I decided to hang mine in nets so I could position them out from the wall far enough but avoiding the "speaker/speaker stand in the middle of the room" dilemma. I'm not sure how many pairs of these pricey($2400/pr) Jamos made it the the U.S., but if you see them, check them out as they are without any doubt, a premier, world class speaker. If you see them roll onto the floor of your local Salvation Army like I did, move swiftly with reckless abandon...
