Hello
I am new to your form (and my normal language is French, I express myself and read via a translator... so I ask for your indulgence). First of all, thank you for accepting me, I find your technical level among the best. I have already read a few posts relating to the Akai GX-4000D device. But I'm not sure I found the right answer...
In fact on my Akai GX-4000D, at the start of playback, the tape slides sideways (forwards or backwards) and leaves the "PINCH ROLLER". At least as long as the tape is at the beginning, from a quarter of the tape onwards it no longer does so, it no longer slips... In addition, after a good while of reading time the speed slows down and then stops . I cleaned the tape path, the heads and especially the pinch roller (it was very dirty). But if it's better in terms of reading, it keeps its speed and doesn't stop like it used to, even if it only lasts 1 or 2 hours. But the tape still slips. What can I do? Should I change the rubber of the pinch roller or the entire pinch roller? Do I really have to sandpaper the rod (capstan?) which rests on the roller? Or can I do something else? I don't know and I'm a complete beginner.
Please advise me,
Sincerely,
Gerard
