Hafler DH-200/220 vs. Vintage Hitachi MosFet

I admit it, I'm kinda enamored of the MosFet sound. But, my experience is limited to my Hitachi HA-7700 integrated and a Kyocera R-851 receiver.

In my main system (dedicated room) I had been using an Onkyo M-5060r with a rare pair of KLH SCX-3A speakers (think predecessor to the Infinity Quantum 2 [12" woofer, dual dome mids, EMIT tweets]) while my Acoustat's servo-driven e-stat's are down for the count. Sound from this system has been enjoyable, but I have been spoiled and have been feeling like I've been making due.

3 nights ago I decided to swap in the Hitachi (75w dual-mono Mosfet) vs. Onkyo (120w dual-mono bjt). Everything else stayed the same including the AR SP-16. Oh sweet Jeebus did the sound take a giant leap up the ladder. Everything I love about that Hitachi just shined through those speakers. Midrange became palpable, bass thundered, and the highs sounded more tube like (shimmering crystalline cymbals instead of like air being let out of a tire)

So, that got me to thinking maybe I should sell the Onkyo and look for a dedicated MosFet amp.

How do y'all think the Hafler's would compare to the Hitachi? I am happy using the Hitachi for now. But, I hate the idea of the preamp portion of it just sitting there idle. Would I get similar sound, or suffer a little missing out on the separation and sound stage of a dual mono amp?

Are there any other MosFet amps only that have dual mono architecture (I know of the Hitachi HMA-8500) that would be around the same price-
point as a restored Hafler?

Edit: I just remembered the Sanyo Plus Series had a dual-mono MosFet that is supposed to be a real sleeper.

Thoughts?
(pic of the onkyo is an old pic with a different pre)

Use at least and 500VA torroidal transformer for each mono block.

Highly recommend Rods printed circuit boards. I've built 4 of them.

Here are Tandberg's power amps that used Hitachi TO-3 lateral MOSFET's (early = 2SJ55/2SK175, later = 2SJ56/2SK176):
  • TPA-3012/3012A integrated, 100 WPC
  • TPA-3006A, 150 WPC. Not dual mono, but a huge toroidal transformer so the PS is healthy
  • TPA-3009A, 220 W mono
  • TPA-3026A, 150 WPC, beefier version of the 3006A (more heat sink esp.)
  • TPA-3016A, 220 WPC into 8, 2 ohm stable, true dual mono - it's a beast
