Harman Kardon 330c vs Pioneer SX-434

Hi, I am from Moscow, Russia. I start to build my system and I have a choice between Harman Kardon 330c and Pioneer SX-434. My favorite music is: jazz, rock, soul, sometimes rock. The prices for the unit is the same.
What you think about these recievers? Thanks in advance, Sorry for my English.

Your English is fine. The H/K 330C has quite a following here and I like mine a lot. It sounds a lot better than it should at its price and size.

I got HK 330C today. The sound is great! I don't believe that this reciever was made in the middle 70's. Thanks to everybody!

Looks great:thmbsp:, I think either would have been a good choice, but the Hardon/Kardon is probably a bit better, since the 434 is a pretty low unit on the pioneer chain. The HK has higher wattage as well. Your unit looks great, very simple and clean.

And yes, your English is fine, I would love to visit Moscow, but I fear my Russian is nonexistant:D

I'll join the mad rush to the HK. My experience is with the 430 not the 330, but they seem to me to be something special in the modest power reciever world, whereas the 4 series Pioneer are competent low end entry level position holders -- perfectly fine, but not distinguished.

nice

I would have voted for the H/K. Of the two, the H/K wins.
The 330C was some sort of special charm in the H/K lineup.
Probably born before the "receiver wars" broke out and the focus was on quality, not power.

May she serve you long and well.

Fantastic Choice!

I have a 330C and a 730...love them both.

And one of the best parts is that they are easy to recap. (very easy)

Their sound is fantastic, powerful and clear.

I loved my 330 C before and after recap.....so much I bought a 730!

Enjoy! :thmbsp:

I have a 330B, and I have never auditioned a small receiver that impressed me so much.

The sound is warm and spacious, with clean highs and supple mids.

With efficient speakers, this little piece rocks . . . and I love the vintage looks.

Great tuner is a bonus as well.

Cheers.

I own the HK730 and was very impressed with it's ability. I also have Pioneer SX-434 and I like the sound of it. Only gripe I have with SX-434 is the speaker switch used as power switch that fails easily. At least HK is smart enough to have the power button separate.

I am using my 330C and it is a great sounding receiver, I am cleaning up girlfriends original 330. Both sound great, I do not miss my tubes at all. In my opinion you can not go wrong with the 330C, check all the posts on it.
