Anyone buying from HDTracks.com? Heard about it in Stereophile. Very high quality downloads for purchase. I downloaded Vivaldi For Diverse Instruments and it was 732 mb :yikes:

$11.98 for the download. Unfortunately doesn't look like my Roku will recognize aiff files. Burned an audio CD for now.

I'm reviving this thread by saying I have bought (2) 24bit/96khz albums from HDtracks.com - both from artist Peter Frampton. An oldie but goodie "Frampton Comes Alive!" and his brand new one (which reminds me of his older stuff) "Thank You Mr. Churchill". I have a Chaintech AV-710 PC sound card that can play 24/96 files and the albums sound great - lots more detail and sound stage is much expanded. I plan on buying more and probably will be some jazz albums.

I'd like to get that Frampton stuff. Is it more blues? Am thinking of going to see him at Milwaukee Summerfest.

I'm glad they are offering a better known selection now. I really hope that this takes off and companies like this start offering 24/96 transfers from the master tapes of releases, especially those that are out of print on physical media. Trust me I am a vinyl guy all the way but sometimes I just can't afford it and 24/96 needledrops are the next best thing...a 24/96 from master tape would be a dream.

I wouldn't call it blues in the traditional sense, but more like his earlier rock stuff. He is playing here in Cincinnati (where he currently lives) for FREE over the 4th of July, but I won't get to listen to him since I will be out of town. Bummer :tears:

No problem with owning BOTH and getting the best of both worlds :thmbsp:

I tend to listen to a lot of digital downloads of stuff FIRST before making a decision to BUY the physical media. This way I get a better idea of where I want my hard earned ca$h to go to before buying the physically media which seems to always be vinyl records.

I think the bigger problem that HDtracks has is that not many "listeners" actually own a DAC that can play the higher bitrate music so that they can hear the difference.

I don't own a separate DAC yet but the Squeezebox DAC will decode up to 192 I think. Anyway, an outboard DAC is on my list for xmas.

I'm looking to get an outboard DAC also after I sell off some of my "extra" vintage audio items. The problem is figuring out what to sell and what to keep. I'm satisfied right now with my PC sound card that plays 24/96, but want something that is more remote from the PC.
