This is a amplifier my Dad built in 1958. I am really hoping that it has the better Peerless transformer. Will these components still be good due to their age? Looks like it might have some rare tubes too. Hope they are still good. I posted some pics of the SS! and SS1-B speakers he built too.

Only way to know if it works is to take it to somebody that can test and diagnose any problems. I wouldn't go just plugging it in. It would be kind of surprising if it still works as is, but not totally unheard of..
 
That output transformer is not original for the w5.it's still a peerless none the less and a very good transformer.Google it to get the specsThe original transformers were the 16308 and later replaced with the 16458.I might have those numbers wrong as I'm just going by memory.
 
I believe the 16458 has a primary impedance of 10K CT with 50% screen taps, and rated for 25W power.
The S 258-Q has a 5K CT and rated at 40W max.
