Hi all!
I've been posting for a week or so already but I thought I'd introduce myself.
My name is Marco van Hylckama Vlieg.
I was born and raised in the Netherlands but I have lived in the US for 13 years now. I recently got back into audio that actually sounds good as opposed to just listening on a laptop or through a TV.
When I was a high school kid I was quite the audio snob. I would buy the best gear I could afford at the time.
At the time I had a superb Denon PMA-720A amp with a Philips CD473 CD player with a set of KEF Chorale speakers. And a lower end Aristona turntable. That CD player was ugly and plasticky looking but VERY good sounding.
I kinda wish I still had that little setup because it sounded absolutely amazing.
Recently I decided I was done listening to garbage quality music so I started with buying a set of Audio Engine A5+ speakers. These sound pretty darn amazing when you stream Aptx HD audio from Tidal in Master quality.
But then I wanted more for in my music room. I now have a Harman Kardon T65 turntable, a Denon DRA-625 receiver and a set of Polk Audio Monitor Series 2 speakers in there as well as a nice Vizio M series 4K TV. I don't have a CD player in there yet but with CDs being cheaper than pretty much any other medium I think I'll have to get one eventually.
I'm excited to be back in the land of good audio, especially vintage stuff.
So far I'm loving this community!
