Hi everyone,

Thanks for all of your help so far, even though I haven't asked a question yet. I've been wanting to get into the hobby, and did a good bit of research here before I bought my first turntable. I couldn't justify a "good" new unit just to try, so I started watching the used market.

This week I found a very well taken care of Elac Miracord 40a, and took the leap. The classic well built look got me. It had been sitting for quite a while, and wasn't functional. After quite a bit of cleanup and re-lubing, I was able to get it running the same day. And, I was able to play my first record that I bought on my way home from buying the turntable, just in case I was successful.

My family is enjoying this unit more than I imagined, and I can't wait to get it dialed in a bit more. Hope you don't mind some questions, as I am truly a beginner as far as this medium goes. I do have it hooked up to a decent sound system, and like I said, I never expected it to be as good as it is.

Welcome...Your first LP and already on a music forum...too late to back out now. You've gone down the rabbit hole. There's far worse rabbit holes out there. Yep, you're in for it now, pal. ;):p:D:beerchug: It's a fun ride, 99.99% percent of the time.
